Dear Coaches,
I hope you are planning to return to Port Angeles again this year to participate in the 24th Annual Duke Streeter Scramble. There are a few changes this year. Schools will be allowed to bring up to 6 players- varsity or junior varsity- this is at the discretion of the coaches. Each 2 girl team will play 9 holes. There is still NO cost for the entry to this tournament. Peninsula Golf Club has been kind enough to continue to allow us to use their course for this event as a gesture of good will and encouragement of junior golf.
Here is a bit of general information about the event. Range balls are available at a reduced charge- $2 for a small bucket. Coaches are encouraged to play. This will now be a nine hole shotgun for all players. The tournament is limited to 12 teams.
I would like the better golfers in the same playing groups. I need your help to do this. Please send me average scores for 9 holes for the players you plan to bring. Here are the details for this year's event:
Date: Wednesday May 6th, 2014
Place: Peninsula Golf Club
Times: All Girls tee off at 1:00 pm- shotgun start. Please convey the importance of playing within standard 15 minutes per group, per hole pace. We were over six hours for 18 holes last year for a few groups and that is part of the reason this event has been changed to 9 holes for everyone.
Format: All Players- 2 person scramble.
Match Awards: Team Trophy for 1st place overall combined (best two combined team scores of a possible three).
Medals for 1st place, two person team.
Other Awards: Long Drive KPs
Putting contest
Looking forward to hosting,
Jacob Lippold, PGA PAHS Girls Golf Coach
